How to upload a DICOM dataset ?
The easiest way to upload a DICOM directory, is to use a CD-ROM which contains the usual DICOM arborescence as produced by a medical imaging device (TDM / MRI or X-Ray). CD-ROMs commonly contain a directory called “IMAGES” or “DICOM” (other names are possible). This directory contains the DICOM images. The CD-ROM also contains a file called “DICOMDIR” which lists the hierarchy between DICOM images. This file is useful to accelerate the rendering process of the medical exam. The software automatically detects these two components and upload data.
How to :
This action will result in opening a dialog box that will inform you of the existence of a DICOM images directory (DICOMDIR) in the CD-ROM. The directory is ready to be copied to the hard disk. The main study’s data (patient firstname, lastname, study date, study modality) will be automatically loaded and stored in the software database.
If the CD-ROM doesn’t have a file called “DICOMDIR”, a dialog box will inform you that DICOM images were not detected. See next paragraph to upload DICOM images even if “DICOMDIR” file does not exist.
DICOM directory can also be uploaded from any location (USB drive, local directory…), even if DICOMDIR file doesn’t exist.
How to :
This action will upload the directory and copy the files to the hard drive. If “DICOMDIR” file exists it will be also copied to the hard drive. If “DICOMDIR” files does not exist, it is created by the software. Be aware this process might take time. A progress bar informs the user of the progress status of the operation. At the end of the process, a new row will appear in the main window.
